In 2013, Hollywood has grilled Bollywood really hard. Bollywood has only had 3 great movies this year so far, according to me, "The Lunchbox", "Madras Cafe" & "Special 26", whereas Hollywood has had movies which have made bollywood, fighting a losing battle. Hollywood movies such as Oblivion, Man Of Steel, The Conjuring, Mud & many more, has made Bollywood movies look really small & this continues with the release of "Prisoners".
Well, anybody would want to see this movie by listening to the star cast. With names like Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, the expectations from a movie becomes higher & after seeing the movie i just can say 1 word.. "Wowwwwwwww"..!!
( Jake Gyllenhaal as Detective Loki & Hugh Jackman as Keller Dover)
The movie starts with Keller Dover played by Hugh Jackman, who is a very religious man & run a carpentery business & his happy family going to a Thanksgiving lunch, to their friend's house. Everything is going fine, everybody enjoying, children's playing & their daughters go out for a walk, Anna & Joy, with their elder brother & sister, wheere Anna & Joy see an RV standing & they begin to play with it but they get back to their house. After some time, Anna & Joy, go to Anna's house to get her whistle, Dover & his friend ask about their daughters & they don't find them in the house & the kids never come back. All the people get tensed & shocking as everything was going so smooth & happily. They all start to suspect that the guy in the RV has abducted them. Police start searching for them, Detective Loki played by Jake Gyllenhaal, after some search they find that RV standing outside a gas station near the woods, with Alex played by Paul Dano, in the van. The detective gets him & gets him into custody & after having interrogation he finds out that, he cannot abduct the girls as Alex has an IQ of a 10 year old & when the detective tells Dover that he has to release him because of this thing, Dover reacts strongly, even saying the "F" word to the detective. After this, Dover takes the matter into his own hands by capturing Alex, from his house & capture him like a Prisoner & doing all the things necessary to get the truth out of it whereas his friend thinks that, this is wrong because we don't know that he is kidnapper or not but, Dover rejects & still make Alex captured in old house. Detective Loki, tries to find all the loose ends of this kidnapping & even goes to the house from where a young Billy was kidnapped 26 years ago, just as the same way, those girls were kidnapped. Now, i dont want to be a spoil sport & tell you everything & them, you would not be able to enjoy the movie.
The movie is directed by Dennis Villeneuve & seriously i would like to meet him & say "what a superb director you are". The story of the movie is really deep & he needed to find the way to make it look comprehensive on the screen & he has done full justice to it. Everything, the emotion that was need by parents, the detective, everyone was bang on target. The misery, the parents feel, you become a part of it. Screenplay is just phenomenal.
Now comes, the main part, the acting, the 2 lead stars Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal, are both one of the best actors hollywood has & they show their awesome acting skills in "Prisoners". Hugh Jackman, playing a father, is one of the best roles he has done so far, strong, emotional, drooling sometime, in the scenes where he done everything that can be done to Alex, he looks vicious but miserable & mind you, when he cries, you'll cry for sure, too. I felt that. Jake Gyllenhaal as Detective Loki, does everything he can do, he is strong, ready to do anything. I think, its one of those mvoies, where you cannot tell, which lead actor was the best as both were good. the emotions they present on the screen feels like, the same that we would feel, if we are in a bad situation. But, the surprise comes from Paul Dano who plays Alex, the portrayal of Alex as a guy who has an IQ of a 10 year old, he acts superbly & you feel the misery of that guy to your core.
As a whole, "Prisoners" is the movie that you would want to see for its content, acting & emotions. you would not get better dramatic situations which looks real on screen. I don't any doubt that, it is the best mvoie i've seen this year. It got what was expected from me, A standing ovation, from me. GO, WATCH IT..!! FEEL THE EMOTIONS..!!
