Two things that or should i say 2 brands which truly define RGV are Satya & Company. With his new flick he tries to bring back the magic of both these brands with his movie flick "Satya 2". Did he stuck the right chord?
(Puneet Singh Ratn as Satya in "Satya 2")
The answer is "NO" & yes, it is a bitter truth. His new film "Satya 2", which for the record has nothing to do with its first movie, is a story of a man who wants to reinvent the company, i.e., "Underworld". RGV has named this movie "Satya 2" because, "Satya" clicked to the audiences, once upon a time. It only borrows the title from Satya, the humongous hit of the director in 1998, that movie defined the gangster genre of movies in Bollywood. May be, it's his respect to that movie.
Like in the first movie, the hero essays the title role & come to Mumbai as an outsider. The debutant, Puneet Singh Ratn plays the character of the new "Satya". The script is nothing to be anticipated as a secret, because you have already garnered the story if you have seen the poster punchline. "Dawood has retired, Chota Raajan has become inactive & Abu Salem is in jail.". Satya, an outsider coming to Mumbai to revive & building a new Underworld. Well, this is the whole story & rest movie is about the tryst with "Ek Naye Underworld Ki Shuruaat"
Satya 2, is a bit of clumsy in the way it is been edited & very-very loud with its background score can tear your ears apart, well nothing gets you engaged to the movie as nothing is new in the script. The thing is, too many gangster movie has come & gone between 1998 to 2013. This genre has seen everything, it has become really narrow now, the bhais, the violence & everything does not create the fresh curiosity as "Satya" did in its time. You cannot see anything new in this movie. It just fails in it's script & the way its is being put for you on the big screen.
The newcomer Puneet Singh, impresses & communicates with his eyes but doesn't get in it's depth. The supporting cast, completely fails to impress. The main things that this movie sorely miss are "Bhiku Mhatre" & "Kallu Mama".
The movie tells you the awful truth if you are a Satya fan, like me. It marks the lowest phase of a film maker who we believed, would reinvent the gangster genre & the mainstream bollywood for good.
